Thoroughbred has three key executives
Jeff Bewkes - Chairman
Jeff Bewkes began his TV career at HBO, then a small part of the giant Time Inc, and soon rose to become Sales Director responsible for the launch of Cinemax. He quickly moved up the ranks to become CEO of HBO in 1995.
This was the era that saw the strategic shift from a diet of movies and boxing toward original TV series like The Sopranos.
In 2002, Jeff became Chairman of Time Warner’s Entertainment and Networks Group followed in 2008 by becoming CEO and ultimately Chairman of Time Warner.
In that role he oversaw HBO, CNN, Turner, Warner Bros, New Line Studios and the CW Network. He also oversaw and divested AOL, Time Inc Magazine Group and Time Warner Cable (now Charter Communications).
In 2018, AT&T acquired Time Warner in a deal worth $110bn and Jeff retired from the company.
In 2024, he became Chairman of the UK-based, Thoroughbred Studios.
sIR hOWARD sTRINGER - EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Sir Howard Stringer moved to the United States in 1965.
After working at CBS's flagship station WCBS-TV for six weeks, he was drafted into the United States Army, and served as a military policeman in Long Binh during the Vietnam War.
Howard returned to CBS, where he had a 30-year career. He became a journalist, producer and senior executive. He served as President of CBS News and then President of CBS Network from 1988 to 1995, where he was responsible for all the broadcast activities of its entertainment, news, sports, radio and television stations.
Howard moved to Sony in 1997, as President of its US operational unit and in 2009, he became President and CEO of Sony Corporation. With his experience in the media industry, Howard was responsible for the Sony Studio business overseeing the release of such hits as Spider Man, the Bond movies and The Da Vinci Code.
JEREMY FOX - CEO
Jeremy Fox has spent his entire career in TV starting in news with CBS, ITN and Granada. He created the hit game show The Krypton Factor, which ran for 17 years and started one of the first independent production companies, Action Time. The company was eventually sold to ITV and re-acquired by Jeremy in 2015.
Jeremy was involved in the start up of BSB, which became Sky; ran a production company in LA; was CEO of Richard Branson’s Virgin TV and President of Kerry Packer’s Channel Nine Australia Inc.
Jeremy returned to the UK and, along with music mogul Chris Wright, acquired Portman Films, which launched the hit drama series Doc Martin. Portman then acquired a number of UK-based distributors and, in 2006, formed an umbrella company, Digital Rights Group.
After more than 12 years, Jeremy sold his remaining stake in DRG in September 2018 to launch Thoroughbred Studios.
