“In Japan there is a philosophy of death and no philosophy of life” - Kiyoshi Kiyosawa

August 6th 1945 marks one of the defining moments of the twentieth century. At 08:15 on that Monday morning, the first ever nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima from the B-29 Enola Gay. It directly killed 70,000 people; injury and radiation brought that figure to well over 100,000.

Hiroshima explores the story of the tragedy from both the American and Japanese perspective. It comprises six fast-paced hours, across a range of both famous and unknown characters and with a compelling narrative style. It spans the five critical months from the death of President Roosevelt to that fateful day and strips away the myth that only the bomb ended the war.
